[Android] Passkeys: Troubleshooting

IdeaPasskeys are a secure and convenient way to log into accounts without using passwords. Instead, they rely on cryptographic keys stored in a password manager or on the device. SafeInCloud supports Passkeys on Android, allowing users to easily create, store, and use them for logging into websites and apps.

Issue: Passkey is not created or not working

  • Check if the website supports Passkeys.
  • Ensure SafeInCloud is updated to version 25.0.0 or later.
  • Verify that your device is running Android 14 or later.
  • Set SafeInCloud as the default autofill service in Android settings.

Issue: Unable to log in via QR Code

  • Check the internet connection on both devices.
  • Ensure the camera correctly scans the QR code.
  • Try creating a new Passkey.

Issue: SafeInCloud does not suggest a Passkey for login

  • Check Android autofill settings.
  • Ensure the Passkey is saved in SafeInCloud.
  • Ensure the Use for Autofill checkbox is on for particular Passkey card in SafeInCloud.
  • Reset Preferred service for passwords, passkeys & autofill in device settings to None then back to SafeInCloud
  • Restart the app or device.

Issue: Chrome doesn't suggest Passkeys saved in SafeInCloud

  • Make sure you are using the latest version of Chrome (version 131 or newer).
  • Enable the experimental autofill mechanism by going to chrome://flags#enable-autofill-virtual-view-structure set flag to Enabled, then restart Chrome:

Once flag is enabled, try again to Enable the New Autofill Method in Chrome as described in step 4 of this article.
