Copy to clipboard
The best practice is to use Safe with
browser extensions providing
autofill functions.
However, not all resources support autofill yet. In such cases, you can easily copy data from Safe to clipboard and paste it into apps/sites:
- Open a card
- Click the field ("Text copied to clipboard" message pop-ups)
- Paste into the application/site input field
One-time passwords (OTP)
Safe generates one-time passwords for two-factor authentication and can be used as an authenticator app. For this:
- In your profile on a website, enable the two-factor authentication . Choose digital-letter code option (not QR-code), and copy the code to the clipboard.
- In Safe app, edit your card for this website (click Add another field button and choose One-time password (2FA))
- Paste the website code into the one-time password field.
- Click Save and close icon on the toolbar to save the changes.
New OTP field will continuously generate security codes, which can be autofilled and copied to clipboard like all other fields.
Password generator
Password generator provides strong passwords for your to use in your accounts. Click Generator button on the toolbar to open it and adjust its settings:
- password length (longer passwords protect better)
- generator mode (choose Memorable for passwords, which are easier to remember, but still hard to crack). Advanced settings for Memorable and Random mode are available by clicking the gear button.
To generate new password with current settings click renew (rotate) icon next to the password field.
Password strength
Safe estimates the strength of your passwords and shows password strength indicator under each password field.
All your cards with weak passwords are marked with a corresponding icon and shown when clicking the Weak Passwords label in the side menu.
Password history
When you modify a password in some card, the app saves the previous password. You can access all the previous passwords by pressing the History (clock) icon next to the password field.
